Where fine dining and reality TV stars collide

Friday
Noon- Jump in the car and head south to San Diego, a city that boasts 70 miles of coastline, an extremely comfortable climate and a vibrant LGBT community. Check in to the Keating Hotel (432 F St.). Italian auto-designer Pininfarina added a modern twist to the hotel when it opened in 2007, adding five-star amenities to every room, including Bang & Olufsen equipment, Lavazza espresso machines and personal concierges.

8 p.m.- Stroll around downtown San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter – 16 square miles of sidewalk cafes, shops and restaurants. Walk to Rice, located inside the hip and sexy W Hotel (421 West B St.) and indulge in the prix fixe dinner – the best way to taste all the Rice has to offer.

10:30 p.m.- Toast the start of a wonderful weekend at Martinis Above Fourth (3940 4th Ave.), where you’ll find 58 martini variations and an upscale cabaret.

Saturday
9 a.m.- Join sun-worshippers and water-lovers alike at Mission Beach; gawk at the surfing (and hard-bodies on the boards) at La Jolla shores; or enjoy a sense of personal empowerment at clothing-optional Black’s Beach.

12:30 p.m.- Grab a stylish lunch at the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival (November 12-16). The luxury epicurean event features 50 of the city’s top fine-dining restaurants, gourmet foods, tasting classes and celebrity chefs, including contestants from Bravo’s Top Chef.

2 p.m.- While downtown San Diego offers trendy boutiques and retail shopping, one-of-a-kind treasures can only be found in the Ocean Beach Antique district (obantiquedistrict.com), the county’s largest collection of antiques.

4 p.m.- Take a short drive over the famous bridge from downtown to scenic Coronado Island and visit the majestic and historic Hotel Del Coronado (1500 Orange Ave.), were movies including Some Like It Hot were filmed.

7 p.m.- Head out to Hillcrest, the heart of San Diego’s LGBT community. Get a table at Terra (1270 Cleveland Ave.) for a casual-yet-elegant dinner, including pan-roasted tilapia tipi tapa or a Karl Strauss-lager-braised boneless short rib.

9:30 p.m. Dance and flirt the night away at the neighborhood’s most popular club Rich’s (1051 University Ave.), which boasts parties like the monthly “Dirty Pop.” Nearby North Park offers an eclectic array of hotspots like Eagle (3040 N. Park Way) and Bourbon Street (4612 Park Blvd.).

Sunday
10:30 a.m.- Start your day with brunch at Hash House a Go Go (3628 5th Ave.) and enjoy a sun-dried tomato, goat cheese and basil scramble or a house hash with smoked fresh salmon, cream cheese and scallions.

1 p.m.- Stroll through San Diego’s famous Balboa Park (balboapark.org) – the 1,200-acre park includes 15 museums, nine gardens and the Old Globe Theater. The world famous San Diego Zoo (2920 Zoo Dr.) also calls the park home, and more than 800 species of wildlife, birds and underwater animals will steal your heart away.

5 p.m. End your weekend on a sweet note, with a treat from Extraordinary Desserts (2929 Fifth Ave.). The Balboa Park location has been serving up delicacies for more than 20 years, including its popular cherry chocolate chip cookies.
